While browsing around NASIOC, I ran into Chris’ pictures of Chad’s sweet 07 WRX and had to feature him in Subie Freaks! I got the opportunity to get some of his time so we could ask a few questions. Nice ride Chad! And thanks for providing some awesome pictures Chris! (All photos displayed were taken by Chris - 105wrx)

Brief description of yourself?
Name: Chad Nelson
Im 23 years old and I’m currently attending California State Polytechnic University of Pomona as a Civil Enginerring Major at the junior level this year, and I should be graduating next June. Before cars, I was into skateboarding where I had skated for over 10 years. I still like to skateboard however, as well as snowboard.
So, I first got into Subaru’s about a little over 4 years ago when a friend of mine let me drive his 03 sonic yellow wrx. At first, I couldn’t believe someone would buy a car like that, then he let me drive it! Since then, I was hooked on Subarus. After many many trips to the dealers and looking around online for about 3 years, I finally bought an new 07 OBP WRX last August.

What do you like most about your Subie?
Coming from driving a 98 Ford Ranger, 4 cylinder lifted on 33″ tires…. what isnt there to like about my subie? I love the AWD!… rain or shine, it drives great. The power and performance that it puts out is great as well. With the 2.5 liter engine, the torque that the car produces is crazy. Also, subarus are very unique cars. It takes a real subaru fan to truly appreciate these cars! I’ve also meet alot of really cool people thru meets and just talking about subarus in general, some of which are good friends now. They say, when you buy a subaru, it comes with a family as well
haha.
Anything you dislike, or would like to change, about your Subie?
The first thing would be the quality of the paint. Every subie owner knows this, and especially since my car is black, I see it even more. The paint chips easily, swirls, scratches… everything. I would also change the interior somewhat. Im a fan of the all black interior. A friend of mine, Chris (105wrx) painted his interior all black and it looks really good.
and, the tranny! haha…no, not yet anyways.
Future mods?
Man… there are an endless amount of things that I want to do, but some would be…
better suspension, some Megan Coilovers
front & rear endlinks
rear diffuser
side markers (have these, just need to put them on)
defi amber red boost, EGT, and oil pressure gauges with gauge controller
STi gauge cluster
kartboy shortshifter w/ front & rear bushings
Blouch TD05-18G 8cm or 20G with support mods… STi top mount, injectors, fuel pump, protune
other stuff but cant think right now.
Any advice for people from your experience in regards to modifying, maintenance, install, etc.?
The main thing, when modding or anything, is research. Research anything you want to mod on your car and find what best fits what YOU want/need. You can get advice from others which may or may not be useful, but in the end, its your car. For maintence, just consult your car manual, dealer, or online. Also, for those who arent stock, esp with performance mods, research and ask questions. And lastly, just have fun! Hopefully modding your car is something fun and interesting, otherwise whats the point. oh and dont be stupid! haha.
Hope this is what you are looking for, and thanks again crazygin50!
