The Local Subaru Meets Series showcases some of the Subaru meets running all across America. This time we’re heading to Santa Clarita, California to check out the SCV meet started by Ray ( Highrevimpreza on NASIOC). Ray was provided us some good responses to our questions. Quite an interesting read! (Some minor editing done by me).

Could I get a brief description of your meet:

We love to hang out and talk among each other about our cars and the events that are coming up, time trials, Car events *subaru in general* !=D

Why or how did you decide to come up with it?

It all started in 5-24-2006. My cousin Arnie was always telling me about Subaru meets around my area but at that time i didn’t have a car to drive. i was 17 at that time then when i finally bought my 1st Subaru and i wanted to meet other Subaru owners. So one day my buddy and i were like, “Why don’t we start our own meet here in Santa Clarita?”, So we started posting on the boards trying to get a meet going. The 1st meet we had it was only the 2 of us at the In and Out parking lot. It took a couple weeks to get a regular amount of people coming to our meet, then it took off from there. We finally got a good amount of people coming. then one of the regulars , Paul aka YimiSport, was telling me about opening a shop in The SCV and we we’re like “Ya man you should do it. You have all your buddies supporting you and will help out as much as we can”. Then a couple months later he opened up his shop and was like “Ray, why don’t we have the meets here at the shop?”. so that is were we hang out and chat =).

Any events happened beyond the meets?

The SCV gang arranged a caravan to portland orgeon for Subiefest 2. It was a blast driving there, and we had a great time to see the sights and the people.. there more to this story but im cutting it short =)..

subiefest 2! niceeee Subaru

What’s the age demographics? Teens? Young-adults? Middle-Aged? Mixed?

The age group is around 18-30+ but it doesn’t matter we all act like kids when were having a great time.

Can you name any of the regulars (NASIOC or real names)?

We held a memorial to our buddy Kyle that recently passed away. He was a regular at the meet and I just wanted him to be part of this…we all miss that guy. RIP Kyle Seaholm.

What’s the average number of people that come to it?

Average amount of people that usually attends is about 15+ cars and 20+ people.

Got any cool/funny stories?

The funniest thing? There are a million of those moments. Examples listed below:
Paul Yim wearing the tight pink female Yimi Sport shirt. The pratical jokes between everyone. Erwin throwing up for drinking too much beer. Launching of the fireballs. The various videos on the screen. etc.

What’s some of the sweetest rides you’ve seen at the meet?

Hmm the best cars we saw were from ali from esx motorsports. DB9, 600+ 06sti, dodge viper, F1 replica, and the Dodge neon str4 LOL. (*Editor’s Note* hahaha!)

Best parts of the meet?

The best part of the meet is the people that attend there all down to earth and very friendly. Thats what i love most about the meet everyone gets along and no one has issues amongst one another were there to hang out and have a good time like every meet…

Another thing is the comradery among the group. The Evo group and Subie group able to hang out together. Chef Norm always cooking.

Worst parts?

The worst part hmm having these young kids peel out in the parking lot, yell out * WANNA RACEE*. We had cops patrol our area but they didn’t really see us as a threat. One of the cops asked who had the fastest car here.

Me: “I do sir”

cop: “how much hp are you putting out”

Ray: “50Hp to the wheels sir”

Cop laughs and said “Alright guys enjoy the night”.

bad boys, bad boys, what ya gonna do?

Any closing remarks)?

Yea, I want to give a BIG thanks to Yimi Sport Tuning for letting us have the meet at their shop and Paul for being a great friend and shop owner!

group pic of some Subie Freaks Subie group shot Subie going fast!

Again, thanks a lot Ray for allowing us fellow Subie Freaks to get an inside look at your meets!
