The Local Subaru Meets Series showcases some of the Subaru meets running all across America. This time around we head to Sonic’s for the Sonic meet situated in the tri-state area! Although technically this isn’t classified as a “Subaru” meet, there’s a couple Subies in the crowd…so that’s good enough. This is a huge gathering (200+ cars!) of car enthusiast and if you are in the area, you MUST check this out. I talked to Jonathan (chaso311clarity from NASIOC) to get some more details. Great responses and awesome pictures, please give this a good read! (Minor editing was done by me.)
Could I get a brief description of the meet: This was the second annual Sonic Meet and Cruise. Basically a whole bunch of people from all around the tristate area (PA, NJ, DE and even MD) meet up and cruise up to the Sonic in Ephrata, PA.
What’s the routine? There were meeting spots all over… I think 7 or 8 different caravans of cars that cruised there and then everyone just hung out, walked around, ate food and all that kind of stuff.
Why or how did you all come up with it? It was actually an idea from someone last year and it was a pretty big success then, so we decided to try it again this year.
How long has it been running? This was the second year.
What’s the atmosphere like? Is it pretty chill? Oh it was great. Lots of cool cars, lots of cool people. Everyone was pretty well behaved too which is a surprise when you put that many young guys together. haha
What’s the age demographics? Teens? Young-adults? Middle-Aged? Mixed? It was fairly mixed… i’d lean more towards young adults and teens though.
Can you name any of the regulars (NASIOC or real names)? D Money, IStoSTi, Wrinkeboi, myself, wkderf, and alot of other people that everyone probably hasnt heard of. lol.
What’s the average number of people that come to it? Last year was the first year. I’d say there was about 70-100 cars then. This year exploded… we had close to 200 cars show up.
Largest number of people that came to the meet? Not sure, id say 200-250.
Lowest number of people that came to the meet? No idea lol
Got any cool/funny stories? Besides people being idiots and doing burnouts and speeding by the cops on the way there? no lol
What’s some of the sweetest rides you’ve seen at the meet? I’m a big fan of Bill Vitale’s car… IStoSTI on nasioc. Also, D Money’s wrx was there.. even though the car wasn’t “ready” it was still cool to see. There was a C5 corvette there pushing over 700 hp to the wheels, he’s shooting for 1000whp soon. A supercharged nitrous injected Rt/10 Viper showed up. There was also a GMC Syclone which i think is really cool. And of course tons of other cars.
Best parts of the meet? Getting to see old friends, meet new ones, and talk about cars.
Worst parts? Gas money i guess haha
Have any cool pictures you can show(of the people & especially the subies
) There are TONS of pictures… most of which are posted here… http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51540
That is the forum we started the meet on.
Big thanks to chaos311clarity for providing the information! Watch out for an article featuring his sweet 2005 CGM STi coming soon! ![]()
