Mach V is an excellent and reputable company that sells performance parts for mainly Subaru WRXs, Mitsubishi Evolutions, and Mini Coopers. They have quite the following among the respective enthusiast communities being renown for its superior service (Our Prosport gauge contests were supplied by Mach V! Incredibly fast shipping! No…I’m not paid by Mach V, just a happy customer lol).
It recently held its third annual 2008 Mach V Mega Colossal Meet and Charity Car Show (that’s a mouthful…we’ll use WVMM). I personally went and can say without hesitation that it’s one of the coolest meets I’ve been to. It is a great event bringing out many car enthusiasts from around the Washington D.C. metropolitan area (Northern VA, D.C., MD) and beyond.
The majority of the meet-goers were Subaru enthusiasts, but there were plenty of other people representing various other makes and models (VW, Supra, Mini, EVO, etc. ). With so many in things going on at the meet, along with food (burgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas, etc.)….you should definitely check it out if you are in the area (and even if you’re not)! And to top it all off, it’s all for a great cause with most of the proceeds going towards the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization of the D.C. area.

So what was going on at that meet? Here’s some quick information on some of the things going on:
Burger-eating contest: With big help from Burger King which supplied 80 burgers, contestants stuffed their faces to be the Mach V burger champion!
Paintless Dent Removal: The WVMM had a PDR guy “on-meet” to help grateful meet-goers get their dings and dents out of their car!
Bikini car-wash: Motorsports Models LLC brought out some great ladies to the meet. Besides handing out raffle prizes, trophies, and taking pictures with meet-goers, they were also gracious enough to wash meet-goers cars!
Raffle prizes: Meet goers were given raffle tickets for voluntarily donating money to the event. These raffle tickets were used to draw prizes donated by Turbo XS, Kartboy, and many more sponsors!
Deals on parts: Mach V placed special deals on its performance parts, so meet-goers could walk into their store and check out some amazing deals!
Car show: The MVMM had a cool car show with categories for best engine bay, best exterior, best car of show, and car that Mach V would like to own (there were also categories for non-Subaru rides as well)!

I had a chance to ask Dan from Mach V a few questions regarding the meet:

Dan and the Motorsports models
How did you come up with the meet and why did you choose to raise the proceeds for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization?
We’ve had a big summer meet for a lot of years. About three years ago I decided to raise some money for charity; it seemed like a good idea to be a little less selfish. I was a Big Brother when I was younger and really like that organization.
How much money was donated this year?
I’m still finishing up the collecting, but we raised over $1000. (crazygin50: cool!)
Has the interest in the meet since the first one been steadily or significantly increasing?
Our summer meets have always been pretty popular. I think people really had a good time this year — I got a lot of positive feedback about the event.
Favorite WRX/STi, favorite non Subaru, and favorite car overall at the meet?
Well, my own ‘08 STI is my favorite WRX/STI. Paikman (Jon Paik’s) ‘08 STI is really nice, too. It’s lowered and has big-wheels like mine. But there were a ton of other really nice cars. Lots of very clean cars. Oh, and that VW Notchback with the WRX engine in it is a sweet ride.
TYWRAP (Jon Prytz)’s Supra won our trophy for “Car We’d Most Like to Drive.” It dynoed 580 rwhp on our Dynojet. (crazygin50: wow!!!)
Are there things at the meet that you wish you could’ve done or did differently?
I wish I had more time to meet and chat with people! I’m so busy during the event, it’s hard to relax and enjoy myself.
I know it just ended recently, but are there any new plans/ideas for the next one?
Sure! We have plenty of new plans, but I’m not going to announce them this far in advance. Stay tuned for next year’s event!

So I guess we have to wait and see what Mach V has in store for meet-goers next year! I had a great time at the meet and will definitely be going to the ones to come in the future! A big thanks to Mach V and all its supporters for holding such a fun event. Again, if you are in the area you wanna don’t want to miss out on this!
