Colin McRae, legendary Subaru rally champion and Scotland’s own, is being honored by hundreds of Subaru enthusiasts from Europe with a huge pilgrimage to Lanark, McRae’s hometown.
McRae’s life tragically ended last September when his helicopter crashed near his home which also killed his son and two family friends.
The enthusiasts are planning a 320-mile from the rally champion’s hometown to Banbury Oxfordshire, which is the base camp of McRae’s former Subaru team, Prodrive.
An article from the Hamilton Advisor had this to say about the event:
“So far interest from the Subaru community has been “massive,” and the tribute has been given approval by the McRae family.
“This event has the potential to be the largest Subaru event ever in the UK and is for one purpose - to celebrate the life of the legend that was Colin Steele McRae MBE,” said one of the organisers.”
I wish I lived in Europe! Great event to honor a true racing legend.
